How to Score a Perfect 10

A perfect 10 score for a single routine in gymnastics was considered unattainable, until Nadia Comaneci achieved it at the 1976 Olympics in Montreal.  An absolutely amazing feat and changed the landscape of gymnastics forever.  The incredible amount of drive, discipline and focus to achieve such a feat is not for the faint of heart.  Great news is that we are going to be focused on creating a routine to have a perfect day but there are no judges to tell you a score.  Three areas to consider are heart, head and body to create a daily routine to live our best lives daily.

Let’s start with our heart by actively practicing gratitude.  There are many studies on the beneficial effects of gratitude but let’s keep it simple.  Recognize what you are thankful for so you can experience more positive emotions, sleep better and feel more alive.  I have found that verbalizing 3 things I’m grateful for daily is not overwhelming and puts a smile on my face.  The world will give you plenty of negativity so for the sake of your soul, recognize the great things you have in life.

Our hearts and heads are inextricably linked so now let’s focus on our mindset.  Believe in positivity!  I realize that can be a serious challenge for those that prefer to have the glass half full.  If that is indeed the case then let’s start by reducing and eventually eliminating negative self-talk.  Our imaginations are fascinating but can also be extremely cruel.  Beware of your inner dialogue and when the negative pops up, replace it with the opposite.  It will feel strange at first but as with all habits, you will get better with time and positivity momentum will be on your side.

Last but certainly not least, take care of your body.  I’m not talking about going to the gym 7 days a week or eating like a rabbit.  Rather let’s focus on getting good rest, move your body and fuel up with quality food and water.  Adults should be getting 7-9 hours of sleep.  Colder rooms (67-70 degrees) that are dark and sleep meditation apps can help.  When it comes to moving your body, do just that.  Find something you enjoy and walk the dog, dance or work on your yard.  Find what foods make your body feel good and others that inflame it.  Eat Right for 4 Your Type is an amazing app to check out.

Is a perfect day possible?  Unless you have judges walking around giving you a score, we will never know.  What I do know is taking care of the core 3 (heart, head and body), give us a better chance of enjoying each day.  We aren’t on this planet very long so let’s go live our best lives while we are!
